“A Story That Must Be Told”

I am grateful for the recognition and awards my story has received. More importantly, I’m grateful for the organizations that have helped me learn how to get my messages of hope to others. The Nonfiction Authors Association has been key in providing resources and direction in my transformation from writer to author. I am especially honored to receive this award from this top-tier organization.

In the Judges’ Words–

  • It is hard to imagine the abuse Tammy René suffered as a child at the hands of her parents. Though she shares few actual details in her story, the images are impossible to forget. Only her faith in Jesus Christ and the loving support of her husband anchors her through flashback after searing memory. The resulting pain each time this occurs is often tempered by her memory of and return to a peaceful garden and a loving Gardener.
  • One thing that I loved about this book is we not only heard Tammy’s story but her husband’s side of it as well.
  • Tammy Renee needs to be commended for being so brave in sharing her deeply personal story with her readers. It is a quick read but not an easy read. However, it is a story that must be told in the hopes of helping others heal.
  • This book is an unforgettable walk with Tammy René as she struggled to live a normal life with her husband and children after a childhood filled with unbelievable trauma. It is a heartfelt story of faith over horrors.
  • There were so many extremely important life lessons in this book that everyone could benefit from. At the end of the book Tammy makes a note to survivors of abuse. Not only that but she includes a letter to friends from abuse victims. She also includes some important resources for her readers to have.
  • After reading this I think this book would be great for a book club discussion, in the school library, school counselor or health office for both kids and adults.
  • I totally fell in love with this beautiful cover design by KM Shadidul Arafat! It was the perfect graphic for this book!

The Most Profound Reward

We each have a “story that must be told”. In having the courage to share, we create opportunities for growth, understanding, and connection. That is the most profound reward.

About Tammy René

My journey has been about the freedom of learning and accepting truth. Even more importantly it is about rediscovering the light inside me and learning to own it, build on it, and then share it.
