The Miracles Continue
The miracles continue in the years since Miracles in the Dark: How a Childhood Cult and Abuse Victim Reclaimed the Light was published. The opportunities to share messages of hope have been heart-changing.
More than a memoir, Miracles in the Dark is a testament to the power of choice and the miracles that unfold when we are ready to confront our past. It is a beacon of hope for anyone who has faced darkness, offering a reminder that light is always possible—even in the most unthinkable circumstances.
Whether you are a survivor seeking solace, an advocate for healing, or simply a reader captivated by stories of the indomitable human spirit, this book invites you to reflect and be inspired. Miracles in the Dark is not just a story—it is a call to action to believe in the possibility of transformation and triumph. A must-read for those who believe in the resilience of the human heart and the miracles that guide us back to the light.
As a survivor of extreme childhood abuse, I have experienced miracles in healing from its effects. Sharing the intimate details of my healing journey is uncomfortable–to say the least. But the desire to light the fire of hope in those who are suffering from abuse’s effects drives me to share.
Is Healing Possible?
If you are asking how to heal from childhood trauma, or if it’s even possible, Miracles in the Dark: How a Childhood Cult and Abuse Survivor Reclaimed the Light can help answer those questions. It is a compelling and raw story of overcoming the trauma of childhood abuse and finding hope and healing. My goals in writing my story are about sharing things I’ve learned on my journey, such as:
- The power in accepting and processing the pain of abuse
- Insights into healing from spiritual abuse
- How the kind acts of others –no matter how small– can play a key role in the healing journey
- The reality that healing from childhood trauma is possible
In sharing my journey, I have found that miracles continue in my life and the lives of others.
More Than Hope
While feedback from other victims affirms the goal of sharing hope, friends of victims share other vital insights. One reviewer stated, “There were so many extremely important life lessons in this book that everyone could benefit from.” The reviews show an increase in compassion and awareness for those who struggle. Their words touch my heart. You can read the reviews, here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CR1T39H3#customerReviews
A friend told me that even though she had not suffered abuse, there were many parts that spoke to her. Life has a way of placing us at similar crossroads and dilemmas. The truth is that regardless of the difficulties in our lives, we all need hope. Often our hard times look very much the same, regardless of the causes.
Strength in Sharing

My good friend, Jodi Orgill Brown, shares her story of trial and triumph over the crippling effects of a brain tumor. You can find The Sun Still Shines, here: https://a.co/d/iuDbTCf While the beginnings of our stories vary greatly, the darkest moments looked surprisingly similar. We share a connection in facing the trials we are given. Her recommendation of Miracles in the Dark shows her understanding of hope in healing:
“…This powerful story reminds us that even in times of great anguish, God sends angels to give us hope! A truly touching and beautiful demonstration of the strength of the human spirit!” Jodi Orgill Brown, Resilience Expert, Award-winning Professional Speaker & Author
The Miracles Continue
The willingness to be open about the ups and downs of healing from abuse has helped others to feel safe enough to share their own. Through work with the Suicide Prevention Network I have the privilege of meeting with many on their own healing journey. One of those has found great strength in sharing his story of overcoming trauma and addiction. No matter where we are on our journey, there are ups and downs ahead. But sharing helps give us the human connection we all crave.
Regardless of the pains and heartache we are called to go through, all of us can find light and hope, ultimately thriving in a life that is uniquely our own. The miracles will continue.

Tammy, you are the “Miracle”. Keep up the good work.
I So Agree, Carol!
Any time a family member.becomes addicted to alcohol, drugs, porn or sexual abuse, the rest of the family suffers that addiction, too. Life becomes painful and frightening for everyone. So grateful for all the light and helpful advice you are giving us by sharing your escape with us!
I’d like to add- Thank you for enlightening us again, Tammy!
I never considered- Just as an alcoholic, addict or pedophile is only one drink, one fix, or one child away from feeding their weakness, a victim is only one frightening, overpowering memory away from emotional collapse. As difficult as it is for addicts to ignore their cravings, their victims live every day fearing their darkness might engulf and incapacitate them again. It’s a roller coaster of ups and downs, hopes and fears that everyone has to live with:(
and failures, hope
